Why We Call Ourselves Crazy Family

Our team in action
Our team in action

I've always loved the feeling of creating something as a team—when everyone is pushing toward the same goal, supporting each other, and believing in the work. That’s what I loved about being a dancer. In a dance company, no matter where you come from, you sweat, struggle, and show up together. You become a family.

When I transitioned into filmmaking, I knew I didn’t want to lose that.

So I started Crazy Family Productions. At first, it was just a dream between my sister and me. She’s an actress, I’m a dancer-turned-director. We imagined building a creative home where people could work with purpose—and feel like they belonged.

Now, the rest of the crew isn’t related by blood, but they’re family all the same.Reork, our editor, is quiet and nerdy but brilliant.Ryan, our sound designer (and my partner in life), hears emotion in every note. And me—I’m usually behind the camera, chasing the feeling that brought me here in the first place.

Our core team is small—but our heart is big. On bigger productions, we work with an extended crew of freelancers who share our values. They’re just as passionate, curious, and generous with their craft. Whether it’s a gaffer, grip, assistant camera, or interpreter—we bring in people who care. And we treat them like family, too.

We call ourselves “crazy” not because we’re chaotic (though sometimes we are), but because we’re okay with not being normal. We don’t always follow the rules. We don’t make glossy, soulless content. We make things that matter.

Sometimes that means working with small budgets and tight timelines—like the series we created for Weiwuying. It was hard. The client was tricky. But every artist on that set gave 110%. We cried at the end, not because we were tired, but because we knew we’d made something real. Something bigger than us.

I know we’re not the only ones who feel this way. There are many stories in Taiwan and greater Asia that have yet to be told. So many people who’ve never seen themselves reflected back on screen. That’s why we’re here.

If you care about storytelling that’s honest, emotional, and a little “crazy”—you might be one of us. And if you’re building something meaningful and want help bringing it to life, let’s talk.

Until then, thanks for reading our first blog. It means the world to us.

Crazy Family
